Accept Sky (SKY) payments
SKY is the governance token of Sky, the protocol formerly known as MakerDAO, and the successor of MKR. easyway accepts SKY on Ethereum with the same checkout and API as ETH and the stablecoins. This page covers the contract that counts, how SKY differs from MKR and the other Sky tokens, and what pricing a sale in a volatile token means.
Token, network and limits
| Token | Network | Contract | Confirmations | Min. withdrawal | Withdrawal fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sky (SKY) | Ethereum · ERC-20 | 0x56072C95FAA701256059aa122697B133aDEd9279 | 12 | 8 SKY | 27 SKY (flat) |
This is the SKY Token address in Sky's developer documentation, and the address the protocol's own on-chain registry (the ChainLog) returns for "SKY". A "SKY" at any other Ethereum address is not this token.
SKY, not MKR
MKR still exists as a separate ERC-20 contract, and wallets often show it next to SKY with a similar name. Only SKY is credited: MKR sent to an invoice address is not seen as a payment. A customer who holds MKR converts it first through Sky's official upgrade; the converter contract pays 24,000 SKY per MKR, works one way only, and at the time of writing keeps a conversion fee, so check Sky's own site before upgrading.
Staked SKY is not spendable as is: it sits in Sky's staking contracts until the holder withdraws it to a wallet. USDS (Sky's stablecoin, the successor of DAI) and sUSDS are different tokens and are not listed; DAI itself is accepted on the DAI, FDUSD and PYUSD page. SKY on other chains or bridges is not credited either — the checkout labels the coin "Ethereum · ERC-20".
What paying looks like for the customer
The customer picks SKY, gets an amount and a fresh 0x… address with a QR code, and sends exactly that. A personal wallet needs a little ETH for gas; an exchange withdrawal is paid for by the exchange, which has to be set to the Ethereum (ERC-20) network.
easyway tracks the address's SKY balance, so a direct transfer, an exchange batch payout or a multisig all count the same. The invoice is paid after 12 confirmations, usually a few minutes. Transfers under 0.05 SKY are skipped; several larger ones add up. Short or late payments are described in the underpaid and late payments guide.
Price risk and fees
SKY is not a stablecoin, and one SKY is worth a few cents, so invoice amounts run into thousands of tokens. On a USD invoice the SKY amount is fixed from the exchange rate when the customer selects the coin; the payment is credited and later withdrawn in SKY, so price changes after that are on your side. An invoice priced directly in SKY (currency = "SKY_ERC20") has no conversion at all.
The platform fee is a flat 0.5% of each confirmed payment: 50000 SKY received leaves 49750 SKY on your balance. The withdrawal fee and minimum are fixed SKY amounts set from the gas of an ERC-20 transfer when SKY was listed. Every coin's numbers are on the pricing page.
Integrating
There is no SKY-specific code: create an invoice with the API (or a payment link if you don't write code), send the customer to the hosted checkout and ship the order when the signed invoice.paid webhook arrives. Runnable examples are in the quickstart; the sandbox guide walks through a test payment.
Common questions
Is easyway part of Sky? No. easyway is independent and simply accepts the token; it has no partnership with Sky.
Where is the SKY kept after a payment? On your easyway balance until you withdraw it. Live withdrawals only go to addresses you whitelisted with two-factor authentication; see security.
Which other Ethereum tokens can I accept? ETH (accepting Ethereum), The Graph (GRT), Curve DAO (CRV), Ethena (ENA), Aave (AAVE), Uniswap (UNI), Chainlink (LINK) and DAI and PYUSD, on the same invoice addresses.
